Street Fighter 4 Boot Camp Information

Bear with me as these rules are preliminary and are subject to change at any given time. I do appreciate any feedback and ideas to better the system.

I need everyone to understand something: I'm putting these things together so that the Tucson Fighting Game Community can improve upon itself... TOGETHER! We are here to LEARN and to help each other level up. Obviously, i want everyone to enjoy themselves and to have a good time but these sessions are serious business. There will be constructive criticism/advice/suggestions given to you from the people who are most familiar with this game and have been competing in tournaments for years. We will be blunt and honest with you always so please dont misconstrue this as disrespect or contempt. If we beat around the bush or candycoat things, you will never improve... WE will never improve. If you are just a casual player (absolutely nothing wrong with that) or you feel that your ego might get in the way, these sessions may not be for you. However, if you show up to these sessions, I guarantee you will see immediate, noticeable improvement in your gameplay and your tournament standings. Remember, we are doing this to improve ourselves, and in that, improve one another.

For right now, these sessions will be capped at 15 people. YOU MUST RSVP with me and receive confirmation in order to attend. The first 14 to respond will get in that week. Just showing up will not be tolerated and you will be turned away. If you do not RSVP with me via Private Message and get confirmation, don't bother showing up, expecting to play. The 15 player cap is in place so the rotations do not get too long, but its long enough to motivate you to win to keep out of the rotation. The RSVP window will be every week between Saturday at 3pm and run until tuesday at 3pm so be sure to send me a private message asap. After you RSVP, you will receive a PM from me letting you know if you were one of the 14 or if you werent quick enough. I apologize in advance to all of those who send me a PM but were just too late. However, you can always TRY FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEK!!!

3 SF4 stations separated by skill level

station 1: Advanced (5 players)
station 2: Intermediate (5 players)
station 3: Beginner (5 players)

RULES:

1. The first session, I will determine where each player belongs. At the end of the first session, the station you finished at, is where you will start the following week. New players will have to start in the beginners station. If people from the advanced and intermediate stations don't show up, we will bump up the best performers from the previous session, to fill the slots.

2. King of the Machine (KotM) format will be used on all three stations. One person on each station will be responsible for recording all wins. Someone else will takeover record keeping if the original keeper gets demoted to the next station(demotions will be explained further down.)

3. Arcade mode will be used! This mode will be used so the winner cannot keep switching characters to counter each upcoming opponenet. This gives the challengers a chance to beat that character that's streaking.

4. Promotion/Demotion Match: After an hour, the person with the most wins on stations 2 and 3 will challenge the player with the least amount of wins in the next ranked station (best player in station C will challenge worst player in station B, and the best player from B will challenge the worst in A.). the promotion matches will be best 2 out of 3 matches.

5. If the player from the lower station defeats the player from the higher station, that player will be promoted to the next station, and the loser will be demoted.

6. Tie breakers: in case of a tie for players that have to play a promotion/demotion match. A coin toss will be issued. The player that loses the coin toss (if the tie breaker is for 2 players with the weakest win count), he will have to play in the demotion match. Vice versa if someone wins the coin toss for the right to play a promotion match.

7. If you are constantly the worst player in the beginner bracket week after week. You will be pulled to the side, and a possible ban may happen. This will be on a case by case basis. It is possible that the other beginners are also learning at the same rate as you. So if I see improvement atleast, you will not be banned. If you constantly get 0 wins, there is a problem, and it probably means you are more of a casual player. It's nothing personal, and there's nothing wrong with being casual. But these sessions are for serious training to become better, and this may not be for you.

8. If you RSVP and repeatedly fail to show without plenty of notice time, you are subject to banning for an unspecified amount of time. I will not tolerate flakey people that fail to show up, and effectively killing a slot for the whole night. You must give me plenty of notice time to cancel your RSVP so i have time to let people know that i have an available slot that someone else can fill. I understand real life gets in the way, just please let me know, ASAP!

9. I do not tolerate people showing up late. if you consistently show up late, i will ban you. Show the organizers some respect. if you know you cant make it by 630pm, give us ADVANCED warning.

10. Grudge/rival matches: coming soon. awaiting ideas. can use some feedback here.

Ok, heres how the 09/01/10 stations are shaping up. We're at 8 as of 5:00pm on Tuesday which is very sad and shitty. Dont forget: Some changes were made to boot camp starting 8/4... as of that date, boot camp is now $10 per person. However, (starting 8/6) you will get into friday night fights for $5 IF YOU ATTEND BOOT CAMP THE WEDNESDAY BEFOREHAND. Also, do not show up for boot camp any earlier than 6pm from now on. New people are AUTOMATICALLY placed on station 3 so i will move people around to even out the other stations.

Station 1:
Marvin
Jose
Roch
Latif

Station 2:
David
Scott
Aaron
Isaac
